(The Malaysian Insider) IPOH, Feb 4 — Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is planning a mammoth public gathering in front of the Perak mentri besar’s residence tomorrow in what is surely the last throw of the dice to head off the formation of a new state government by Barisan Nasional (BN).
A new BN government is looking all but certain now after the defections of four assemblymen from the PR alliance in Perak today.
“We are trying to mobilise a crowd of over 50,000 people for tomorrow night.
“This will be the start of the public’s support for Pakatan Rakyat,” read a text message sent by an aide to Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tonight.
The plans for a mammoth rally come after a dramatic day where Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin tried to obtain consent from the Peral Sultan to dissolve the state assembly.
He failed to get an immediate answer from Sultan Azlan Shah.
But any plans to convince the state ruler with a public rally may well be moot if he consents to BN forming a state government tomorrow morning.
Deputy Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is also Perak BN chief, is expected to be granted an audience by Sultan Azlan Shah tomorrow morning.
During the meeting, Najib will make the case for BN to form a new government to end the political uncertainties in the state.
Najib made the claim for the power grab today after announcing the state BN coalition now had 28 members of the state legislature, the same as PR, but it also had the backing of three independents whom are likely to join one of the parties of the ruling coalition soon.
If the Sultan does not give an immediate answer tomorrow, it will open the door for PR to use a public rally to try to convince the ruler to dissolve the assembly.
PR leaders feel that fresh elections will be their best bet for survival as they are confident of getting a convincing mandate from voters.

If the BN takes over, the question they will ask is: Who is this fellow? But I did not vote for him to represent me. Then what's the point of asking people to go and vote when somebody else govern me?
Therefore it would be best to hold a state election to decide onse and for all.

Hmm...looks like the Chess masters have come to the open now. The game is getting hot and sticky. The race to power is biting into the head.
It will be a bad idea to use public rally to garner support Anwar. Hit on the dirty tactics will be more appropriate. Let His Royal Highness to have some time. Too much of everything might spoil the game. Cool it man!

A mammoth rally may be disrupted by the BN goons in the police force. Or it might not be allowed to materialise at all. The police surely will have all sorts of reasons to give to prevent such a gathering. Whatever that will happen, we hope that peace will prevail. we will have to think of various democratic avenues available at our disposal to prevent Najib from taking over the state machinery. Surrender to BN, we will not.

If happen that he is wise enough then I can see alot of beautiful things to happen.

We cannot continue to be naive and think along the old lines. This is not just a question of Perak alone. This is the matter of rakyat is king!
If the sultan (the representative of the rakyat) does not consent to calling for fresh elections, then the rally can be held in front of the Istana Kinta! For, this is our we communicate with our representative!

This is what DSAI is good at. Demonstration and public rally. This is the result for allowing DSAI to focus more on his own agenda to become a PM , rather than managing well what they have in hand. Expect us to trust DSAI to manage the whole country, when he cant even hold 5 states together for 1 election period?

There is no gurantee that in the event of a re-election and PR wins with a bigger majority, BN won't continue to bribe or coerce their elected representatives to jump.
I think that it is high time the 25 million Malaysians who are not UMNO members - take to the streets, and bring down this corrupt regime!!!

Wow..everything is going accordingly as I predicted. Was it 26K petition for Zaki not to be appointed as CJ? What happened? And those petitioned in Bersih rally? Nothing also, right? Since when Pakatan had it easy to form government? There was a delay in Selangor, in Perak but not so sure about Kedah.
Each time the Perak royalty speaks about democracy etc etc..something bound to happen to prove what you practice. Yesterday Sultan Raja Nazrin said ""As the head of state at the state level and head of the country at the national level, the ruler plays a role in upholding stability and justice, and strengthening solidarity and unity.
"The presence of the ruler helps in enhancing the effectiveness of the check and balance mechanism, thus strengthening the institutions of the legislature, executive and judiciary that have been created in the country; lifting the level of public confidence in the system of government and system of nationhood based on democratic practices and the doctrine of the division of power."
Raja Nazrin said this during the pledge of loyalty at the special investiture in conjunction with the silver jubilee celebration of the reign of Sultan Azlan Shah as the 34th Sultan of Perak at Istana Iskandariah.
He said that as the head of state and country, a ruler must always ensure that whatever he said and did was not misinterpreted or misunderstood.
Raja Nazrin also said that the power entrusted by God must be discharged with responsibility because he (the ruler) would be judged in the hereafter.
"As such, power must be exercised to implement good practices. The ruler's nobility and honour, position and sovereignty do not come automatically,"
And to Pakatan, I guess you need to win more votes, get the support of EC, the judciary, police , army and the royalties if you want to establish a government in Mlaysia. If Your Highness is reading this, we plead you to give your consent for the Perak State Assembly to be dissolved to make way for a fresh election. Let the people of Perak exercise their democratic rights. Allow them to choose the govt of their choice.

Why did the sultan hold back consent to dissolve the assembly? Why the cliff hanger?
Will the sultan let us down again? We have to wait and see. Does he know the will of the Perakians from within the walls of his palace?

Not a good idea to hold a rally at this point in time. Conserve your energy and not waste it fighting with the police. Instead, be prayerful and calm. Wait for the ruler's decision. This situation is different from any other situations he experienced in the past. But rest assured, he CANNOT and WILL NOT make a decision that is against the will of his subjects. For he knows that his decision will change the course of the history of the state as well as the country.

Personally, I don't think HRH is gonna do ANYTHING.
Wake up - these Guys have been fed by UMNO for many years....
Consider the following:-
1. Why does HRH need 1-2 days to "think" it over? COme on man, the situation is grave, & He NEEDS time to think?? The economy is rotting, & He NEEDS time to think??
2. Remember, ALL the royals voted Zaki in as the CJ - not one voice of dissent from any of the palatial offices. And HRH was once the Lord President...so, if He's so much for truth & justice, why not even a whimper on the appointment?
3. Of course, & perhaps most important of all, Najib - is no dumb idiot - not the way we sometimes render him to be. If anything, he must have calculated his move so well, and that would include his knowledge of what the anticipated royal response would be in this situation.
All I can say is this tho. Najib - you can only cover so many holes taht you've personally dug. From Altantuya, to Balasubramaniam, to the 3 Wakil Rakyats, to Saiful, to the submarine deal - you can only cover so many holes.

I still believe a grand prayer 'munajat' is more effective than
any mammoth gathering to show support. If it is not favourable
to other partner in the State Government, I proposed that the
special prayer be held in every mosque, churches, tokong and Kuil

Why last week we treated Datuk Nasaruddin as a great hero, and today we are despising him as a traitor? Oh! only now do we realise that 'defections' is like a 2-sided knife that can cut both sides. Please save our efforts for something more meaningful to Pakatan coalition, rather than take it to the streets. Before the BN leaders turn their attention to Kedah or Selangor, we should hammer a point to all Pakatan Assemblymen in both states not to defect to BN. We need to cut losses. After all, the 'defection strategy' was actually mooted out loud by our own Pakatan leaders themselves.

It is a good idea to hold a mammoth rally, the bigger the crowd the better-but in a peaceful manner. Pakatan has nothing to loose at this critical period. Message with "People's Power" should reach the HRH Sultan of Perak without further delay. Advise from Raja Nazrin to the HRH is of vital important.
